Maurten's sodium bicarbonate buffering protocol — bicarbonate mini-tablets encapsulated in a hydrogel that lets you dose 0.3g/kg pre-race without the GI distress that usually blocks bicarb loading. Five variants sized by bodyweight — Bicarb 12 (~55kg athlete), 15 (57–68kg), 19 (70–84kg), 22 (86kg+), 25 (larger athletes). The number is grams of sodium bicarbonate per dose.. Dosing guidance: start at ~0.25g/kg bodyweight, progress to ~0.3g/kg once tolerated.
