The latest Ultegra Di2 group from Shimano boasts impressive refinements. While a full Dura-Ace build is always desirable, there is little discernible difference in performance. This is due to Ultegra's use of trickle down technology from Dura-Ace, including the Shadow design for the RD-R8050 rear derailleur. The low profile design places the derailleur closer to the frame and under the cassette, providing protection in case of a crash and ensuring smooth, quick, and accurate shifts. The updated geometry of the RD-8050 allows for shorter throws, resulting in faster and more precise shifts, especially over a wider range of 11-34 cassette.
