MAAP Equinox Experience Ride | Vancouver Cycling Event Recap

This past Sunday, ENROUTE.CC hosted the MAAP Equinox Experience ride series in Vancouver. Created to mark the Spring Equinox, the event celebrates the shift from winter into longer, brighter days. It is a moment that signals the return of outdoor riding across the Pacific Northwest.

Hosted by MAAP, the Equinox Experience brings riders together through shared movement, distance, and community. It is less about structure and more about showing up, riding together, and welcoming the new season.

Rolling Out from Enroute.CC

We departed the ENROUTE.CC clubhouse in Vancouver at first light. Over 50 riders rolled out into cool conditions, met with dry roads and calm, overcast skies. From West Point Grey, the group moved through the University of British Columbia before heading toward Richmond and Iona Regional Park.

Known for some of the fastest and flattest roads in the Greater Vancouver area, Iona set the tone for the day. Riders settled into smooth rotations along the newly paved 8 km loop, finding rhythm early in the season.

Fast Laps at Iona Regional Park

The lapped format allowed riders to move at their own pace. Some pushed the tempo. Others rode steady. New riders joined, some peeled off, and the group naturally evolved throughout the morning.

At the end of each lap, a simple coffee and donut stop became a hub for refuelling and reconnecting. It gave everyone a chance to reset between efforts and take in the atmosphere of the day.

Richmond Roads and the Return to Form

After several laps of Iona, the group rolled out for a longer loop through Richmond. Quiet farm roads and open stretches created space for faster riding, with groups settling into what already felt like mid-season pace.

The ride wrapped at ENROUTE.RUN in Richmond, where riders were welcomed back with hotdogs, drinks, and a chance to unwind after a full day on the bike.

A Strong Start to the Season

For many, the ride pushed beyond 150 km. More important was the turnout and energy from the community. Whether riders joined for a single lap or the full distance, the day reflected what the MAAP Equinox Experience is about.

It marked the start of the outdoor cycling season in Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest. Longer rides, faster groups, and more time spent on the road together.
